This is not a CHEVY El Camino....it's much rarer it's a GMC Sprint Custom SP. This car is GMC's answer to the El Camino 454 SS. Just like the El Camino had the SUPER SPORT the GMC Sprint had the Custom SP and there were tens of thousands of El Camino's made and only thousands of Sprint SP's made during the same time period, with the same options. (Exact numbers are availible for each color online.)
This car has a replacement 454 engine w/ Turbo 400 transmission it started out life as a 350 4 bbl, as the vin shows, but it was dealer changed out by the dealer a few years later. This engine is super strong four bolt main engine with a lot of power and torque.
Recent total tune up, oil change and transmission service. I bought a new tonneau cover for the bed and it's very sturdy and removable. They're top quaility and very sturdy, made by Craftec, it can be seen at the Crafttechinc.com website. No snaps solid construction,it's the top of the line expensive cover.
This car has had an older restoration and is a very good driver the work was done several years ago and there may be a small chip here and there and some slight imperfections when up close, but it shows very nice and look as nice. But it could use some minor attention to some area's if you're looking for perfect, if not it's a perfect driver.
Although the car is located in New York it spent 90% of it's life in Florida, the other 10% have been indoors and in a climate controlled garage under cover, never seeing the snow or salt. The car hasn't been used regularly and has only had a few hundred miles in the last few yeas.
But has been started enough to care for it. But I recently bought a new battery for it and after a slight down time it started right up.
Bed is sprayed in black protector to protect the surface, I do see a small spot of rust there, can be easily fixed. Inside there is a newer Radio deck & speakers. This vehicle has air shocks and they do work very well and are plumbed so both can be filled through the one air outlet in the rear for easy access.
